ACEN Volunteer consists of the ACEN Volunteer Translator and the ACEN Youth Internet Volunteer (YIV). In a spirit of "Community self-help and Sharing", the ACEN Volunteer is working on developing areas in the APEC region to render ICT volunteer services, narrowing of the digital divide through online translating services and offline teacher-training activities.

The ACEN Volunteer Translator offers translating services for the ACEN Webzine. For more effective maintenance of the ACEN Website, the English translation of the articles and local ICT materials in native language is in high demand. They translate articles written by teacher reporters and ICT materials into English in order to provide English versions for people in other economies, as well as English-written Webzine articles into their native languages to provide local versions for non-English speaking educators in their respective nations.

Generally, non-English-speaking member economies are excluded from the benefits of international education cooperation due to the lack of English proficiency. The barrier of language in the APEC region is a major obstacle that APEC economies should overcome. ACEN expects that Volunteer Translator's activities would be a possible solution to resolve the problem.

Application for ACEN Volunteer Translator

Qualification of Volunteer Translator
• Proficiency in English and one other APEC language
• ICT knowledge or experience (if they have)
• Education-major and teaching experience are preferred
• Spirit of volunteerism
