1. Teacher Reports from New Zealand

    1) Rata Street School (Years 1 - 6)

      This article explores how ICT can be used to enhance learning and teaching. A set of spreadsheet files was used for basic numeracy and literacy with special needs pupils. Student interest was monitored in terms of the degree to which the activities appealed to the students (Year levels: 1 – 6).
       
    2) St Bernadette's School (Year 6, 7 and 8)
      This article explores how ICT can be used to enhance learning and teaching. A MYSTERIES Intranet site was developed as part of the language/integrated program with students in theirsixth, seventh, and eighth years of school.
       
    3) Rata Street School (Year 4)
      This article explores how ICT can be used to enhance learning and teaching. Students are encouraged to develop their skills in the use of PowerPointĄ¯s tools and functions. Their achievements are subsequently evaluated for effectiveness.
       
    4) Rata Street School (Year 5)
      Students used a PowerPoint template to record their own parent interview materials and presented the materials to their parents. Later, their teacher assessed whether or not the process was beneficial to the students as well as the degree to which they were aware of their learning goals.
       
    5) Rata Street School (Year 2)
      Access was used to build a database containing different kinds of data. Then, it was determined if the use of the database improved efficiency and the quality of analysis and whether or not this lead to better teaching and learning.
       
    6) St Michael's School (Year 4&5)
      Students with good computer skills are selected to teach other students about how to use Publisher to create a range of certificates and awards (a peer/tutor system). Students will learn a range of applications such as graphics application, document editor, spreadsheet, etc.
       
    7) Avalon Intermediate School (Year 8 - Level 3/4)
      Students learn various functions of PowerPoint and develop their communication and presentation skills.
