In recent years, a class using a telecommunication technology is
getting more popular in education, so a virtual class is required
in the World Wide Web, usually referred to as the web. In order
to create the virtual class, home pages that give access to Web
is needed. This article introduces program to create home pages
for teaching and learning and explains programs to create home pages
that give teachers access to Web with Internet.
Creating a homepage for teaching/learning is similar with general
homepage, but programs that create a homepage for teaching/learning
is chosen by the character of curriculums. For example, program
that express exactly numbers, symbols, and diagrams, writes, and
edits easily is selected for mathematics and program can be expressed
lay-out and composition of picture by teacher is chosen for art.
If drawing is needed, special graphic program can be compatible
with other programs is considered.
Teacher must have the ability to use programs. Also program is selected
by how information obtained in Internet can be used easily, so this
chapter introduces programs that may be needed to create homepages
for teaching and learning.
There are professional editor programs to create a homepage: TEXT
editor and Web editor, called HTML editor. TEXT editor is note pad
written in HTML language; Ultra Edit, Edit Plus, Hot dog, Home site,
Coffee Cup, this TEXT editors are used for professional Web designer.
It is not proper for teachers because HTML is based around the concept
of "tags", so they have to learn them.
Web editor gives you a split-screen view of your Web page, enabling
you to see your page (WYSIWYG- What You See Is What You Get). Web
editor offers many ways to making home page easier than TEXT editor,
so most people who create home pages use Web editor. Web editors
are Namo editor, aedra-Web editor, Frontpage, and Dream weaver etc.

Namo Web editor is written in HTML language
(Korean), so it is used widely. Namo web editor helps you design
home pages with many kind of illustrated screens and is compatible
with external files. Namo editor offers many functions: edit
of multi documents, macro, grid, insert table and script, frame
structure, and layer, also provides many clip arts and themes.
People who deal with word processors well can use functions
of this program, so you need time to use advanced functions.
Character of the program is out line of design. You do not need
manual, and you use the program in Korean. |

Front page is the foreign product
and the function of Front page is similar with Namo Web editor.
Any one who can deal with Microsoft's product can use this program.
It is compatible well with other programs and can create bundled
up sites by presenting the function of theme, but the interface
of Front page is less good than Korea product. |

Dream weaver is compatible well with a
variety of languages and offers perfectly elements of dynamic
HTML like a flash, so professional web designers use them. But
in edit, it emphasizes only dynamic HTML, so Dream weaver has
not enough interfaces. Using Korean is limited in this program,
so users use Dream weaver to design home pages as an additional
function. |
In order to create images of home pages, graphic editor is required.
Graphic editor for creating images and providing special effect
to images is not proper to make home pages because it takes time
to study them to deal with program properly. Graphic editors are
Flash, Paint shop pro, Image lady, Fire works, lap tile GIF animator,
Ani magic etc, also multimedia program is used to make and convert
sound files.
Multimedia programs are Cool edit, Gold wave, Jazz + + med. Sequence,
Music match jukebox, CD streamer, Yrid MPEG converter etc. It is
used for musician.
After designing home pages, FTP program is needed to transfer home
pages to server. FTP programs are WS FTP, Leech FTP, Cute FTP, Gozela
etc. Most web editor includes the function of FTP, so files can
be transferred without FTP program. But TEXT editor requires FTP
program to transfer files. On line editor provided from each portal
sites makes you design home pages easily and quickly, but presenting
screen makes home pages simple.
There are many programs to create home pages, but all of them are
not necessary, Web editor is enough to design home pages. Before
creating home pages, teachers consider appropriate software to create
homepages for teaching and learning.
In order to create homepages for teaching/learning, teachers also
decide what kind of information of curriculums they put, program
that express well information they decide, and program that can
be effectively used by teacher.
