ACEN Youth Internet Volunteer (YIV) provides ICT-skill training
for local school teachers and students in the APEC region. They
work for local schools as well as local communities to build the
ICT network among ACEN members. Planted by YIV activities in the
developing countries, the seeds of ICT education help to increase
computer literacy, internet-accessibility, and the use of ICT in
education throughout APEC's developing region.
YIV's activities concentrate on following sub-fields
:
| |
Train ICT skills to local schoolteachers, school
administrators and students |
| |
Set up homepages for local schools |
| |
Collect data of on-going ACEN activities and locally
produced multimedia materials |
| |
Train local YIV |
| |
Build an ACEN offline network among APEC economies
|
Through these activities, people in the developing region improve
educational opportunities in the field of ICT use, which results
in narrowing the extreme level of the digital divide between the
"haves" and the "have-nots" in APEC economies.
Also, lasting ACEN friendships between YIV and the host countries
are built and the ACEN community spirit grows in dispatching areas.
Therefore, YIV will contribute in building a background for mutual
understanding and international cooperation in the era of Globalization
and Information society.
