Understanding traditional culture using folk song
|Purpose
A song is a kind of universal language which is common to every one in
the world. It also contains the history and culture of the country which
the song comes from. As folk songs are easy to approach, it is suitable
to educate international cultures through them.
In this project, web materials and CD-ROM titles are produced and shared
by selecting some folk songs which have distinct background of the country's
culture and history. To Korean students, they can learn more about another
country's culture and practice practical English. To the students of other
countries, they can use the contents on the web to acquire mutual understanding
of cultures through this project.
|Contents/ Methods/ Activities
A. Selecting folk songs according to the level of the students in each
nation.
B. Reproducing the folk songs and dances : Producing Flash materials and
other software with the songs and dances.
C. Learning the folk songs : Learning one by one within a fixed period.
When learners are practice the songs and dances, they also learn about
the culture of the country. When they have any questions, they ask the
related ALCoB about them.
D. The cyber-contest : Holding a cyber-contest once a term. When the test
materials are recorded and loaded on to the web site, cyber-voting is
carried out and awarded for the good ones.
